Differences Between Blogging and Using a Wiki

Now that you have had a chance to use both a blog and a wiki you are to discuss in this post the differences and benefits of both.

Clearly define the differenes of each.
Clearly define the benefits of each.

Give examples of when using a blog vs. a wiki would be useful and why.

Make sure you are using clear sentences and paragraphs.

  1. Blogs and Wikis are similar and they are different. They are similar in that they have comments and you can talk and comment on it at once. Their differences are; wiki spaces are more organized and easier to navigate, whereas blogs is all on in one collective space rather than several places like wiki. On wiki you can have several different conversations at once and blogs you have to look at the same page to see all the comments. The benefits of a wiki is that you can all be there at one time and not have to worry about finding a place for everyone to be at once to work on something. It is also organized. The benefits of a blog is that it is a little bit more simple and it is prettier.

The differences of using a wiki vs a blog vary like, Wikis can be updated and edited very easily while blogs take a min to post your comment and so of the content can't be edited as easily.

The benefits of using a Blog is that many other people who are following your blogging can respond to your post so you have more input on what you're trying to find out.

The benefits of using a Wiki is that like i said its updated more frequently and easily better than a blog.

One down fall to a wiki is that unlike blogs wikis are harder to set up, as to a blog all you need is your email and your done.

  3. The difference between a wiki and a blog is that a blog is talking about information to a large amount of people and wiki is communicating to a less amount of people. A benefit of blogging is that you can see other peoples information and comment on it. A benefit for a wiki is that you can communicate to how ever many people are in your group and discuss what you need to do. A blog would be more useful if you had information on something and are asking if it is true for people to comment. A wiki would be more useful if you where planning a vacation with friends and wanted to discuss what you need to pack or the cost of everything.

  4. The differences in a blog and a wiki is that in a blog only one person can post things, you can post a comment, but you can't change what they already posted. In a wiki everybody that has access to it can edit it and then save it, and comments can be posted on it. I like how on Wikis you can edit what you posted and other people can too. I like how on a blogger you can customize the background and it is fit to one person.
A blog would be useful for posting personal expierences, like touring France and writing about your adventures for people to read. A wiki would be useful for making ideas for a group project so you can organize everything.

The difference between a wiki and a blog is in a blog you write things like a journal but in a wiki your friends can visit what someone writes and edit it and post things that everyone can also see.
Some benefits of using a wiki would be that other people can visit it and edit things if they needed to add something. Another benefit would be that it is fast and easy. A benefit for a blog would be that it is fast but it is not as useful as wiki if you need to edit and share more things.
If you were to go camping with your friends and you had to make sure that you had everything you would want to use wiki instead of a blog. If you are just posting things then you would rather use a blog.

  6. a blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in reverse and forward order. A blog is like something you can post on over time about events that happen around you or even by you in a order to see what has happened in the time .
A wiki is a website that allows guests to add, remove, edit, and change content...and allows for linking among a numerous amount of pages
A benifit of a Blog is you can keep on posting unlimited things about what you are doing and what you see on a regualr basis and just really tell people about what your doing
A wiki is something you can work on with people and edit save and send links and other messages on a little word board.

  7. Blog: Website were you get information from anyone who chooses to comment.
Wiki: Website were you only work with the people in your group to receive information.
Blog vs. wiki: Using a wiki is useful because, it takes away having to use an email that is hard to organize. Using a blog is also useful because, it helps you put information out on the internet.

  8. Some differences between a Blog and a Wiki are, on a blog you can only comment back and forth on one major topics post. But on a Wiki you can just write back and forth on the same page as where everybody else is working and edit all the info if needed. Some benefits of Wiki's and Blog's are, for Wiki's you can change or delete any information that is unnecessary or you are done using it even if you didnt put it there. Benefits of a blog are that everything is organized and it shows who is typing what and everyopnes thoughts without you having to add your name. It would be useful to use a wiki to organize data for a group project; It would be useful to use a blog to use in a classroom setting, or an office setting, maybe for a newspaper or magazine company.

  9. Blogs and Wikis are both useful, but they are quite different. Blogs are a Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis. You have posts, that people read and comment on. A Wiki is a Web site developed collaboratively by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content. You can have one page, that users can go and edit to add their thoughts and comments. ON a Wiki, you can upload documents, that others in your group can look at and edit.

Though they are different, they both have multiple benefits. On a Blog, you don’t have to worry about someone changing what you originally said. It’s also a great place to get opinions and see what people think on a certain topic. Benefits of using a Wiki are you don’t have all the confusion on posts. IT flows more like a conversation. You can edit what people post on the page like spelling and grammatical errors. You also can upload documents so other members of your team can view and edit them

  10. The differences between using a wiki and a blog is, when you are using a wiki, you can create and join groups or teams to discuss something. When using a blog, you can leave comments on other people’s posts, or can create your own posts. Benefits of using a wiki is if you and other people want to all talk about something you can do that by editing it. Benefits of using a blog is you can follow people and what they say and comment on their posts. Those are some differences between using a blog and a wiki.

  11. A wiki and a blog can be very helpful at times, but there are many different qualities about each other. Such as, a wiki being able to be edited and corrected and can be used for an assignment and with co-workers. The blog is a tool that is used to post ideas or questions for other people to answer and cannot be edited. The benefits of a blog are if someone has a question, suggestion, idea, or thoughts about something, others can read it and use to too for their family or friends for fun or they will know what is good for their kids and etc. The beneficial part of a wiki is that if a group of people are going camping, let’s say they make a list of things they need and already have. People can add to the list and say what they would bring, which tells the others who are going what is left of the list to bring for a safe camping trip.

Blogging is when post something in which people can respond to and share their personal ideas. A wiki is where people share their ideas all together in one page. A wiki makes it easier for people to work together on a project. In blogging you can only share one idea at a time then wait for comments.
Blogging is a good way to state opinion and stress out ideas. A wiki helps people get together and work on something. It’s faster than posting on a blog.
Blogging would be useful if you wanted to put out an opinion or an idea. Like if you wanted to share your opinion of animal cruelty then you can make a blog post. Or if you wanted to stress an idea of a new law, then you can use a blog posting to share your idea with everyone.
A wiki would be useful when trying to get people together on one idea or project. If we were to do a project on something I could contact the people in my group without having to get together.

  13. The difference between a blog and a wiki is that a blog is a website where listings are made in journal style. A wiki allows people to add, remove, or edit the information and add content and allows any number of pages. A blog is not more efficient than a wiki because it’s not something that you can instantly talk through and if the information that is given incorrect anyone that notices it can’t change it. A wiki is useful because you can change someone’s post to add information or change it.

  14. A blog would be more useful to relay information to a wide number of people. A wiki would be more useful in the method that we are using it; to work on a project and communicate within the group. You might be able to do the same in a blog, but not as easily as in a wiki, and you might be able to give information in a wiki, but a blog is better designed to do that.

The main difference between a blog and a wiki is what you can do with them. On a wiki, you can edit the page, upload a document, communicate with others, post links, etc. On a blog, you can only post and comment. This is why they each have their own specific benefits. It’s why you would use the wiki for a project, and not for news, and why you would use a blog for news, and not to talk and work on a project.

  15. A blog is a Web site in which one individual user can update posts regularly to record opinions, thoughts, or information. A Wiki is run by a group of people, or a community, and each user can add or edit content.
The differences between these two are small. As mentioned above, a blog is usually only run by one person while a Wiki is run by a group of people. On a blog, the reader tends to get to know the author on a more personal level, even if it's so much as knowing their name. On a Wiki, it's easier to archive information and posts. On a blog, the posts follow a sort of timeline, but the date matters less on a Wiki. A Wiki's main purpose is to update new information. The date a post was published is more or less irrelevant.
A blog would be useful for posting personal experiences and tales about one's life. A Wiki is more or less useful for posting information about a broad number of topics, or for planning a trip with a group of friends and discussing what each person should bring.

The main difference between a blog and a wiki is that more than one person can update a wiki at one time. Some other differences are that on a blog you can have gadgets on your page wikis cannot. If you use a blog then you are the only person who can actually control the page while the other people can only comment. In a wiki everyone involved in the group can participate fully. One more difference between a blog and a wiki is that a wiki is set up more like a word document and blogs only have a space for typing.
The benefits of using a wiki are that everyone can interact at once on the same screen. The benefits of a blog are that it is more personalized and it is easier to use, this would be a good thing for first time users. A time when a wiki would be most useful is when a group is involved. Blogs are most useful for personal use because they are usually centered around the user.

  17. A wiki and blog are very different. Wiki’s are for group projects and you can communicate much faster. To me, they’re easier to use because it’s more like a chat room. Blogs are for long discussions about a topic, rather than a project. Talking to a direct person is harder in a blog.
However, a wiki and blog are very similar too. The both of them have many benefits. Wiki’s are faster and more efficient. Everyone can contribute to a conversation and it’s much easier to complete projects on. A blog is more organized and no one can override someone’s comment or post. However, responding takes longer. There are downfalls and benefits to both.
If you plan on doing a group project, that would be a time to use a wiki. Wikis only allow you and your group members to see the chat. A blog would allow anyone to view and contribute to your project. On the other hand, if you want to take a poll or ask a question, use a blog. You will get a lot more hits and information then using a wiki.

Blogs and Wikis are two tools that are used in two very different ways. Blogs are used to post your individual feelings while wikis are used to work collaboratively with other people and share ideas. Also, anyone can comment on a wiki, but on a blog you can only post a comment or a blog post. Blogs are normally meant to tell a story or to be used as an online journal, and wikis are used to help groups of people collectively work on a task without seeing each other face to face. With their many differences both are high beneficial. Blogs are good for keeping thoughts or ideas on an online journal. Wikis are beneficial for working on a project or completing a task as a group. If you had a group of people who all wanted to complete a school project a wiki would be your best choice. However, if you wanted post stories about your vacation so your family and friends could read about it a blog would be the best choice.

Wikis and blogs are useful in different ways. A wiki would be beneficial if you were archiving information for easy access and wanting input from a group. A blog would be useful if you were putting new information out there and if you wanted to keep a dialogue with someone else. They are similar though because they are both user generated and allow their users to comment.
If you were working on a group project and the whole group needs to give input so everybody can see it, a wiki would be the right thing to use. You would most likely use a blog if you were discussing a topic with one or two people because it is used in a journal form. It might also be helpful if you were educating a group of people that don’t have to give a lot of input.

I think the main differences in wikis and blogs are that wikis are more for people to work together but blogs are more designed for a specific person to put post and for people to comment on them. A wiki kind of reminds me of an upgraded blog because instead of having conversations in the comments about a topic, they just have them in the total wiki space. I think they are both beneficial in the way that they allow people to communicate over the internet instead of being face to face.

  21. The difference between a blog and a wiki is that wiki's are only posts that people in your group can see. Blogs are open the public, with more people to see. Anybody can edit a wiki while only the person who posted the blog can edit it. A blog would be good for tlaking about personal expierences, while a wiki would be good for organizing data with a group of people. I wouldn't like how anybody could delete my comment on wiki, but I don't like how nobody else could add stuff to something I posted as a blog.

    Differences between Wikis and Blogging
A wiki is a website whose users can add, modify, or delete its content via a web browser. A blog is a personal journal published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete posts that are typically displayed in a chronological order. With blogs, users can post comments on other blog posts, or make blog posts of their own with their own blog, but they cannot edit another blog’s work.
Some differences between a wiki and a blog are that in a wiki, you can edit anything you want in the wiki and for a blog, you can only comment on other people’s stuff. Also, a wiki and a blog have different set ups. For a blog you can have your own design for your blog, but for a wiki, you cannot. Another difference is that for wikis, all the information on it is right there on the screen and you can scroll up and down to see all the information on the wiki, but for a blog, it shows some of the more recent stuff on your blog but all of the blog posts are not just there for you to see on the whole page. Another difference is that on the blog, you can post stuff at the same time as other people, but on the wiki you constantly have that battle of who is going to post first because if you are editing the wiki at the same time as someone else, it could overwrite someone else’s changes.
Some advantages of wikis are that wikis are better at archiving information for easy access, wikis are better at gathering information from a group of people, and wikis collect information from around the world.
Some advantages of blogs are that blogs are better at quickly sharing new information, and blogs are better at starting and maintaining a dialog between the publisher and the reader.

  23. There are some differences between a wiki and a blog. The differences are in communicating with others. Those are that in a wiki you can use the edit and save button to change or add any information while still working in a group. In a blog, you can use comments to communicate to the owner of that blog. There are some similarities, too. The similarities also have to do with communicating with others, too. In both, you can communicate with other people. Whether you know them on a wiki or someone commented on your blog you can talk with other people. I think a wiki is useful for projects when you’re working with a group so you can work on a project outside of school and not everyone needs to work together in a certain place. When using a wiki, your work can be done faster. I think that a blog would be useful as social media. You can talk about things that you like and you can talk with other people that like the same things.

A blog is a Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis. A wiki is a Web site developed collaboratively by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content. Some benefits of blog are that it’s easy to use, it helps you to be more organized it helps you be a better researcher. if you have a business that it could be a way of advertising and you could post the days agenda on it and have your employees go on and see it. Benefits of wiki are it allows you to work with others; it helps you get a higher level of critical thinking, better skills and better social collaboration.

The difference between a wiki and a blog is that a wiki is a Web site developed by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content, while a blog is a Web site where an individual or group of users record opinions and information on a regular basis. With a blog, people can only add content by leaving a comment about the blog. Also, content on a blog can only be removed by the author of the blog. Another difference between blogs and wikis is that on a blog, you can edit the theme of your homepage while the wiki is always the same.
Overall, wikis are better at archiving information for easy access. They are also beneficial for gathering information from a group of people. The openness and transparency of wikis facilitates a large increase in work product reuse. On the other hand, blogs are better at quickly sharing new information. Blogs are better at starting and maintaining a conversation between the publisher and reader.

Blogs and Wikis are similar in many ways and different in many ways. Both of them let you interact with other people on the Internet through commenting. On one hand, the blog lets you view only your work and edit your own posts. On the other hand, a wiki lets you edit the entire page and, ultimately, other people’s work. Wikis can be updated in seconds and contain many different pages that you can work on. In a blog, the main conversation stays on one page and it doesn’t let you go to different places. In a blog, it’s more personal, like a journal. Wikis are probably for a group of people to communicate rather than personal thoughts. The benefits of using a blog are that you can express your feelings freely without worrying about what the other people can change or edit about it. It’s also much simpler to use than a wiki. The benefit of using a wiki is that you will be updated more frequently and you will get more information from using a wiki. Also, wikis are much better for group discussions. I would probably use a wiki if I had a group project to do outside of school and I would use a blog if it were just for me.
