You have to present your domain, then pay, then if its approved, you are responsible for managing it. Also you have to pay more for the service providers to make sure the domain is accessible through their service.
I think it is important because it makes the company look like they are in total control, and from a person’s point of view they would rather deal with a business that manages all of their own stuff.
Tomorrow is such a big deal as far as the internet is concerned because that is when all of the new domain names will be released, along with that’s when people will be able to start presenting their own domain names.
ICANN was formed in 1998. ICANN does not play a role in the content of the internet, but it is there to help make it operable to everyone and keep it a global internet. It focuses primarily on the expansion and evolution of the internet as a whole.
ICANN is the non-profit company. Some companies pay millions of dollars for new domain names but right now they are going for $185,000 for registration. The most expensive domain was bought for 7.5 million dollars. New and expected domains are things such as .biz and .web as well as .nom. The application process isn’t very difficult. You select what domain you want and then check the availability, register for an account using username and password, tell how many years you want to keep it for, check your contact information, enter the DNS, confirm that all the information is correct, and lastly pay with a credit card or debit card. Companies want total domain name control because it cannot be transferred and it protects your domain from unauthorized transfers and/or theft. Tomorrow is going to be a big deal because they are listing a bunch of new domain names. ICANN is the non-profit company; it was created in 1998 to organize everything on the internet because if they didn’t, we wouldn’t have one world-wide internet. The company is located everywhere across the whole world. For as far as I looked, there is no other company that organizes the Internet like ICANN does, it is all just one world-wide non-profit organization.

It is a multistage process which updates the directory. If a company pays enough money it could have its own domain name like .Google, .microsoft and so on. It is important for companies to have total domain control because they could do more than they could and have more control. The things that make tomorrow a big deal is that the internet will be different and some of the sites that we use everyday will be changed. It will be different tomorrow. The non profit company started in January 1985. They where responsible for letting internet sites become sites for free and not charging them. To apply you first have to answer 50 questions about what purpose the new suffix will have and questions about the financial backing of the company. The time they get to fill this out is from late March to April 12. It is important to companies and organizations to have total domain name control because other organizations would have to apply to them to be able to use their domain name. Thursday is a big deal on the internet because it is changing the way the internet works. ICANN is located in Marina Del Rey, California. It is responsible for ensuring a stable and secure operation on the internet. It coordinates internet protocol address spaces, assignment of blocks to regional internet registries, and manages top level -domain names.

The reason this is such a big deal is because this will give applicants a chance to get their name across the internet. rather it be normal people or governing countries. It is important to have total domain control because the company will be able to actually own the domain name for their own use.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is who handles the domain names. There are businesses similar to this one that deal with other web issues because ICANN is only responsible for managing the Domain Name System (DNS) and for accrediting the domain name registers. ICANN opened in 1997, but they are changing things up this year. They are adding new domain names such as ‘.movies’ ‘.gossip’ and ‘.xxx’. If you want a new domain name you must register and send in an application and they will review it and see why you want a domain name and either approve or deny it. If you want one you have to pay $185,000, businesses want new domain names so that they have control and other businesses can’t post or advertise on their website.

A domain name can cost from $2 to $5,000. They say that the organizations will pay a huge amount just to get a few responses to the domain name that they have chosen.
There are a few new domain names to come out into the market such as .de, .mx, .jp, .shop, .oh, .atl, and .nyc (etc.)
It is quite easy and simple to register a new domain name. Enom is a web site that allows people to register for new domain names, along with giving you different domain names that already exsist, Enom only charges around $15 for a new domain name registry.
It is very important to have total control over what is happening with the domain name you have registered because after recently reading in an article that one way for somebody to get scammed is that a company that has the same domain name such as a “scamming party” would simply think that they both have the same domain name, but it would not just be that they would have more access than the people getting scammed thought.
Tomorrow is such a big deal involving the Internet because it is always progressing, and has a never ending transformation. The more the world gets reliable on technology the more we will depend on the Internet. Companies that are providing the domain names are going to get more involved with the evolving need for the Internet, because the more websites that are being created, the more domain names are going to be created more often.

Many domain names may become cheaper to buy, as if there are many more domain names available, simple supply and demand brings the price down, as there is a more diverse supply of domain names, therefore the price should in theory come down. People are predicting in the future of domain names they will be able to do any word in any language. They can do literally anything such as “.anything”. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has decided to vote in favor of increasing the number of domain name suffixes available. ICANN will begin taking applications from all kinds of different organizations for their preferences over what new domain name suffixes are to be created. Pretty soon People will be able to be able to choose to be much more specific URL’s for their website. This could help improve URL description. For example, if the domain suffix .blog was opened up, you would no longer need to have the domain ‘pastablog.com’ as the .blog domain would give away the fact that the site is a blog, so this particular domain name could be shortened to ‘anything.blog’ This is a much simpler and easier way to remember a system.

They answer 50 questions of how the suffixes will be used and what kind of financial support the company has. When a suffix gets approved, they have to set up procedures for putting names under the suffix and computers so that they know where find them. The non-profit is ICANN. Brad White, the spokesman for ICANN, hopes that allowing the top level domains to be available for purchase that it will open up a more dynamic Internet. He also stated that it is essential to have the domains available because the Internet is at a booming stage. The beginning fee for these companies applying for the names is $185,000 and the annual fee is 25,000. This is almost double the price of 2000, the last time the big domains were up for sale. ICANN predicts that the sale will turn into an auction because of the high demand. They also believe that the big companies like Nike and Coke will be the heads of their domains to ensure that they are kept safe and secure in their own name.
Of the hundreds of new domain names that are going to be out there the top 10 that people are preregistering for are .web, .shop, .site, .hotel, .nyc, .music, .film, .eco, .berlin, and .bank. As of 8:00 on this Wednesday morning there are nearly half a million preregistered names that are awaiting tomorrow’s “auction”. With these new domain names ICANN wants to keep these individuals and companies out there on web known for them. An example of this is: If a business that is about taking care of the environment and are doing things to make the Earth more “green” then they would want to register for a .green domain name.
The application process is going to be a long one, but they hope to have everything done in about a year. The application window is January 12, 2012 to April 12, 2012.To have complete authority of their domain they are to fill out a complete application form which consists of 50 questions about their financial and technical operational capability. Based the on answers provided, ICANN will decide who the TLDs go to.
Tomorrow is such a big deal for these companies because having a top level domain name means that they have control. Having control over their company name means that they can continue developing and growing. Without the domain name they have to ask permission from the top levels which is inconvenient. Making the Internet better for everybody means users like me will be able to have greater access and be more knowledgeable about more subjects.

ReplyDeleteFor ICANN, they have a pretty basic application process. You first, must have your forms sent in before the due date. If you do that, then you start the process. The first step is the go through an Administrative Completeness Check, where all they do is make sure you have answered all questions properly and completely, and you have all additional paper work. The second step is the Initial Evaluation. Here, they look at your application and decide whether or not to pass is. Next, is the Objection Filling, followed by the Extended Evaluation, if you did not pass the initial evaluation. If they are any disputes, it goes to the next step to be solved, the Dispute Resolution. Lastly, there is the Transition to Delegation. The final steps before you complete your registration.
Companies want total control of their domain names. This way, they can change settings and no one can steal the name from them. There are several other companies like ICANN. Some of them are godaddy.com, register.com, and networksolutions.com.

I could not find any non-profit organizations that are similar to ICANN, so it looks like ICANN will be receiving all the traffic from those who want to change their domain level.
